RusHydro, Japan to build 3.9 MW wind-diesel system in Yakutia

MOSCOW, Feb 27 (PRIME) -- Russian power generating company RusHydro, the government of the republic of Yakutia and Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) have signed a memorandum on construction of a 3.9 megawatt (MW) hybrid wind-and-diesel power system in a Yakutia settlement, according to the information obtained by PRIME on Tuesday.

Simultaneously, Sakhaenergo and Takaoka Toko, the project organizer on behalf of the Japanese side, signed a cooperation agreement to implement the project. Japanese companies will provide major equipment free of charge, while RusHydro will be in charge of construction and engineering works.

Three wind turbines with an overall capacity of 900 kilowatt and high-voltage lines are to be constructed until December, and 3 megawatt diesel generators are to be installed until 2019. The system will also include a storage system. Sakhaenergo, a second-tier subsidiary of RusHydro, will operate the facility.
